Routes and map

Where do the routes come from?

Waymarked routes come from OpenStreetMap. Approaches to peaks, huts and lakes are traced by us on existing trails, from car parks, stations and villages.

How is the climb worked out?

With the 30 m Copernicus elevation model, sampled every 30 m along the path. It can differ by a few metres from your watch.

What do T1, T2… T6 mean?

The SAC technical difficulty scale. T1 is a well-marked path; T3, ground where you use your hands; T5 and T6, alpine terrain.

How is the time estimated?

With Munter's rule: 4 km/h on the flat, plus one hour per 400 m of climb and 800 m of descent. Stops are not included.

GPX and devices

How do I get a route onto my watch?

On the route page, "Download GPX". Then open it with Garmin Connect, Suunto, COROS or your navigation app and send it to the watch.

Can I connect Strava or Garmin?

Not for now. Export the activity from Strava, Garmin Connect or your app (GPX, FIT or TCX) and upload it under My account › Outings: it counts the same for points and collections.

Data and errors

I found a mistake in a route

Write to us with the route link and what you saw. If the mistake is in OpenStreetMap, we fix it there and everyone gets it.

Is the trail condition up to date?

We don't know whether a path is closed or snowed in. Before you go, check the mountain forecast and local information.

Account

Do I need an account?

Not to search routes or use the map. With a free account you download the GPX, save routes, add your outings and keep track of your collections.
